ABOUT NORTH BAY TRANSIT RIDERS

Our campaign is driven by and for all those who use public transportation in the North Bay region (Sonoma, Marin, Napa, and Solano counties). Our mission is to catalyze public investment in high-quality, frequent, and connected transit options that get people where they need to go. Transit services should be easy to navigate, and feel safe and comfortable for all users.

Our recent advocacy projects have included helping shape the MASCOTs roll-out (which has led to greater coordination among North Bay transit systems); campaigning to pass the SMART ballot measure in June 2026-( which has given SMART train & path a reliable source of operating income through 2050); and recruiting elected leaders to participate in the national Week Without Driving. In the coming year, our priorities include ensuring every bus stop provides reasonable shelter, and advocating for both expanded operating and more frequent service.

Week Without Driving

The Week Without Driving Challenge is a national, annual event  highlighting the barriers faced by those who can’t or don’t drive. By challenging elected and community leaders to go a week without driving, they understand what life is like for the roughly 30% of their community that doesn’t drive
